Entrance Hymn: All people that on earth do dwell

All people that on earth do dwell,
sing to the LORD with cheerful voice;
Him serve with mirth, His praise forth-tell;
come ye before Him and rejoice!

The Lord, ye know, is God indeed, without our aid He did us make;
we are His flock, He doth us feed,
and for His sheep He doth us take.

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost,

the God whom heav’n and earth adore,

from us and from the angel-host

be praise and glory evermore.

New Sunday Mass Schedule

From Sunday 25th April we will have a new Mass schedule here in Christ the King parish. The current 10 am Mass and the 12 Noon Mass will be replaced by one Mass, at 11.00 am. Among the reasons for this change is that the numbers are so limited at the current Mass times. Replacing these two Masses by one Mass at 11.00 will contribute to a better liturgical celebration, supported by the parish choir. In this change we are following the advice given by Bishop Fintan Gavin. He said one Mass was sufficient on Sunday mornings here. We will, of course, continue with the 6.00 pm Vigil Mass. This change has already been ratified by the Parish Assembly at its last meeting on 12th inst.

Standing/Kneeling/Sitting at Mass

The new postures introduced recently in our diocese are simply bringing our practice into conformity with the rest of the country.

Changes as follows:

1.     Stand for the Introductory Rites

2.     Stand when priest prays: ‘Pray, brothers and sisters…’

3.     Kneel at the end of the Holy, Holy…

4.     Stand for the final prayers after Communion.

We fully understand if someone has to sit throughout the Mass.

Parish Finance Committee meets this Monday, at 4.30 pm to discuss the issue of the boiler replacement.

Songs of Praise: Choir directors, choir and music group members, organists, musicians, singers etc are warmly invited to Songs of Praise on Sunday, February 1st 2026 at 2.30pm in the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Anne. Join us for an afternoon of reflection, prayer, learning new music, and lifting our voices together in praise. This is a free event (donations welcome on the day). Light hospitality will be provided. Please register in advance via: https://tinyurl.com/songsofpraise2026

Diocesan Celebration of the Day for Consecrated Life: Please join us in thanking God for the witness, service, and faith of those who have dedicated their lives to God through consecrated life on Saturday, January 31st 2026 at 3.30pm in St. Francis’ Church, Cork. All are welcome

Recent Deaths: The deaths have occurred of Martha (Murphy) Cooper, Frankfield and late of Derrynane Road; Joe Corcoran, Friars Road; Michael (Mick) Dorgan, Kilcolman Lawn. May they rest in peace. We offer our sympathy and prayers to their families.

Recessional Hymn: Now thank we all our God

Now thank we all our God

With heart and hands and voices,

Who wondrous things has done,

In whom his world rejoices;

Who from our mothers’ arms

Has blessed us on our way

With countless gifts of love,

And still is ours today

O may this bounteous God

Through all our life be near us,

With ever joyful hearts

And blessed peace to cheer us,

To keep us in his grace,

And guide us when perplexed,

And free us from all ills

Of this world and the next.
