Entrance Hymn: Here I am, Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky,

I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin

my hand will save.

I who made the stars of night,

I will make their darkness bright.

Who will bear my light to them?

Whom shall I send?

Chorus

Here I am, Lord; Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night
I will go, Lord if You lead me
I will hold Your people in my heart

I, the Lord of snow and rain,

I have borne my people’s pain.

I have wept for love of them.

They turn away

I will break their hearts of stone,

give them hearts for love alone.

I will speak my word to them.

Whom shall I send?

Chorus

Gougane Barra Sunday

On Sunday 28th September we celebrate the Feast of St Finbarr, Patron of Cork and one of the Patrons of the Diocese of Cork and Ross in Gougane Barra.  This year is particularly significant as St Finbarr’s Oratory in Gougane Barra has been our designated place of Jubilee pilgrimage during this Jubilee Year of Hope. It is also possible to receive a special Jubilee indulgence by participating in Gougane Sunday.  For that reason, Confessions will be available from 1.30pm followed by Rosary at 2.30pm with Mass at 3.00pm.  Conditions for an indulgence are Sacramental Confession, Reception of Holy Eucharist, Prayer for the Intentions of Holy Father and Preforming a work of Charity. (See www.corkandross.org for more details). We are therefore inviting people from all over the Diocese to join us on Gougane Sunday to make the pilgrimage as part of the Jubilee. I (Bishop Fintan) would encourage you to extend the invitation to all parishioners to join us in Gougane Barra on Sunday 28th September.

Collection for fund which supports seminarians and deacons

The annual collection for the Priesthood Education Fund will take place across the Diocese on this weekend. This fund plays a vital role in

supporting the formation and ongoing education of those serving in priestly and diaconal ministry. Currently one seminarian returned to his studies for the priesthood in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth last week and another candidate is pursuing formation for the Permanent Diaconate.

Finance Committee meets next Friday, 26th September, at 4.00 pm.

SMA Novena to St Thérèse

This novena will take place in SMA Church Wilton

Tuesday 23rd September to Wednesday 1st October. Mass at 7.30 pm each evening, except on Saturday 27th when it will be at 7.00 pm.

ALPHA INTER-CHURCH DOUGLAS, Autumn 2025, starts on Tuesday, 30 September, 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm, in the Ardfallen Centre, Douglas Road (entrance via Nursery Road), and runs for 10 weeks. Come and see! Everyone is welcome!

Recessional Hymn: Now Thank we all our God

Now thank we all our God

With heart and hands and voices,

Who wondrous things has done,

In whom his world rejoices;

Who from our mothers’ arms

Has blessed us on our way

With countless gifts of love,

And still is ours today

O may this bounteous God

Through all our life be near us,

With ever joyful hearts

And blessed peace to cheer us,

To keep us in his grace,

And guide us when perplexed,

And free us from all ills

Of this world and the next.
