Family of Parishes: Meetings The Parish Assembly and Finance Ctte in each of the 16 Family of Parishes were asked by the Bishop to meet on three separate nights. The purpose of these meetings is to reflect together on the issues that are significant in our family of parishes. Our family of parishes – Christ the King, Douglas/Rochestown and Frankfield/Grange – has had our three meetings on the Mondays of 17 and 24 February and 3 March. These were constructive assemblies where we reflected on three issues: 1. How can we make baptism the gateway into life in our community? 2. How can priests and parishioners prepare for and celebrate the Sunday Eucharist so that we are nourished and strengthened to tell others about Christ? 3. The final subject was on the potential of the family of parishes to deal with the key issues into the future. The response from each of the three parishes showed a commitment and engagement that should give us confidence. The method used in the three meetings was the synodal method, viz. prayer, listening and discernment. We look forward to the report which will be compiled by the diocese when all the families of parishes have submitted their reflections. There still are copies of Bishop Fintan Gavin’s letter available at the entrance to the Church.
