Trinity Sunday

I used to think that St Patrick may have been unwise in attempting to explain the Trinity to the pagans of Ireland in the fifth century because of the difficulty of understanding it. Remember how he used the three-leaf shamrock to get across the idea that there are three persons in the one God. In more recent years I have changed my mind: I know now that Patrick couldn’t omit the doctrine of the Trinity from his preaching of Christianity. The Trinity is essential to the Christian understanding of God. When Christians speak of God they are talking about the Trinity, a community of love: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Ice Cream Sunday!

Today, after the 10.00 am Mass there will be a procession of the First Communion children which will be followed by an ice cream feast. The ice cream will be free but donations will be welcome. Six containers will be carried by volunteers through the grounds to accept donations. When the ice cream provider has been paid, the remainder will be donated to Down Syndrome Ireland – a most worthy cause.

Death of Parish Organist and Choir Director

The death has occurred of David O’Sullivan, our organist and choir director. The sad news came through on Thursday. He will be greatly missed, primarily by his wife, Marion, and family, but also by Christ the King parish. We sympathise too with the parish choir who were so devoted to David. His contribution over recent years has seen the choir grow in numbers and strength. Leaba i measch na naomh go raibh aige. A special word of thanks is due to David’s son, Cian, who has been filling in as organist and director over the past few weeks.
