Bulletin 10 December

The Advent Wreath

There are four weeks in Advent and each week a candle is lit until we have four lighted candles on the eve of Christmas. The candles represent, in turn, hope, peace, joy and love. Three of the candles are violet but the candle lit on the third Sunday of Advent is rose coloured, evoking the joy of the nearness of Christmas. This is laetare Sunday, laetare meaning rejoice. A fifth candle in white at the centre is lit on Christmas Day. Sacrament of Penance will be offered after all Masses next weekend, 16/17 December, a most appropriate preparation for Christmas. Christmas Mass Cards

Shared Mass Cards are available from this weekend at the office inside the main entrance to the Church. The parish is indebted to Mrs Margaret Barry for this service.

Welcome We welcome two priests and a Presentation Brother to the parish. Fr Jaison and Fr Biju, who come from India, will work in some of the hospitals in Cork. They are Camillian Fathers, whose charism is the care of the sick. They have offered to celebrate Masses here in our church. I would ask you to make them welcome. During the summer Br Theiva came to the Presentation community in our parish. He is working as Chaplain to Colaiste Chriost Ri. He is also ministering here as a Minister of the Eucharist. Br Theiva is a native of Sri Lanka.

Advent Talks Prepare well for the coming of Jesus this Christmas with Advent Talks on Tuesdays at 7pm in Saints Peter and Paul’s Church. Fr Marius O’Reilly will speak on Tuesday December 5th, Fr Sean Crowley on December 12th, and Fr Shinu Angadiyil on December 19th. Each talk will be followed by 30 mins of silent adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar. All are most welcome.

Parish Assembly Next meeting on Monday, 11th December, at 8.00 pm.
