Easter Sunday 2023

Resurrexit Sicut Dixit He has risen as he said

Easter Sunday marks the climax of the liturgical year. It brings to completion what began at the first Christmas, when God became man. He entered fully into the human condition and experienced the joys and sorrows of being human. His excruciating sufferings were the consequence
of his love for humanity. He gave himself fully, to the extent of giving his life for us. But death was not the end. He rose from the dead on Easter Sunday morning and gave hope to all people of an eventual triumph over suffering and death. Today’s feast should help lift us out of negativity and despair. Even if we have serious health issues, either physical or mental, these are not what defines us. We have been baptised into the family of God and will eventually share in the resurrection of Christ.

Gaudium Paschale.

Collection at all Masses Easter weekend is for the Priest’s income.

Thank You

A huge ‘Thank You’ to all who prepared our ceremonies this week and ensured that they were celebrated in a fitting manner. May they be richly blessed by the Risen Lord. The prayerful participation of those who attended the ceremonies was truly uplifting.

Good Friday Agreement 1998
Tomorrow, 10 April 2023, will mark the twenty fifth anniversary of the historic signing of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. The signing of the Agreement was not the end of the journey to peace in Northern Ireland but marked simply the first faltering steps down a very long road to a new, brighter, and shared future. That road will continue to be shaped by tolerance and respect for
our differences, and a recognition of the need for greater
understanding and reconciliation.  The principles of the
Agreement were based on ‘partnership, equality and mutual respect’.  As we reflect on how far we have travelled, we must fully appreciate the sacrifices that were made as we capture a vision for what lies ahead.
