30th April 2017 – 3rd Sunday of Easter (A)

Our thanks to Bishop Patrick Harrington who presided at our Confirmation Ceremony on Tuesday last, 25th April. Our congratulations, prayers and good wishes to the forty-seven young people from Bunscoil Chríost Rí who were confirmed, to their families and teachers.

Choral Festival Sacred Trail: A warm welcome to The mixed chamber choir Cywair based in West Wales who will sing at the 12.00 noon Mass in Christ the King Church, this Sunday.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES  All parishioners are invited to attend one of two gatherings with Fr Timothy Bartlett, the General Secretary for the World Meeting of Families in Ireland who will tell us more about this international event to be hosted in Ireland next year at the request of Pope Francis.  At these sessions we will also launch our Diocesan programme of preparation towards the World Meeting.  The two sessions are on Thursday 4th May From 2:30pm to 4:00pm in Clonakilty Parish Centre and from 7:30pm to 9:00pm in Blackrock Parish Centre.  For more details contact  021 4537601

First Holy Communion:  The Girls and Boys from Bun Scoil Chriost Ri will receive their First Holy Communion next Saturday, 6th May at 10.30 am Mass.  We wish the young people and their families and teachers a very happy day. Note that there will be no Mass at 10.00 am.

Permanent Diaconate in the Diocese of Cork & Ross
Two candidates will be ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on Sunday, September 10th, 2017, in the Cathedral, including a Turner’s Cross parishioner, Frank McKevitt.  Deacons combine parish work with family life and fulltime careers.  St. Stephen, the first martyr, was a deacon, St. Patrick’s father was a deacon, as was St Francis of Assisi. The diaconate is open to married and single men alike: married men must be at least 35 years on applying; celibate men can be accepted at 25. The preparation takes four years. Society of St. Vincent de Paul:  The April Church Gate collection amounted to €1,217.   We thank you most sincerely for your generosity and continued support and look forward to your help with the May collection.

Cake & Book Sale in the Parish Centre this Sunday after 10.00 am and 12.00 pm Masses to help Leah Barry a UCC student in connection with her volunteering in a school in Hanoi, Viet Nam, for four weeks commencing 14th May, 2017.
