Low Gluten Hosts: The hosts used at our Masses are supplied by Altar Bread Supplies Limited, Farranferris, Cork. The Coeliac Society of Ireland issued a statement regarding the new “low gluten” hosts supplied to us. The Society reviewed the recent laboratory analysis certification for these hosts. They contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten and Coeliac Society of Ireland regards them as gluten free, although Catholic legislation requires that they be labelled as “low gluten.” We will be informed of any changes in the ingredients or production processes, including warnings of potential cross-contamination. Further information or clarification required may be obtained from the Food Manager at the Coeliac Society, phone: 01 8735101, email: foodmanager@coeliac.ie.
