3rd-Sunday-of-Lent-261x145-1Parish Catechists:  This Saturday saw our first group of Parish Catechists received their award for their two year course of study from the Maryvale Institute and were commissioned by Bishop Buckley for service in their parishes.  We congratulate Bernadette Hegarty from our Parish who was one of the twenty seven commissioned.  We ask you to remember them in your prayers at this time as they take on this new ministary on our Diocese and in our parishes.
We welcome Fr. Eddie Clare director of the Maryvale  Institute who is celebrating our 6pm Mass this Saturday

images-1Mothering Sunday:   The 12 noon Mass on  next Sunday 6th March  (Mothers Day) will be offered for all Mothers living and deceased. Special Cards will be available in the Parish Office this weekend and during the week.

Jubilee Pilgrimage in our City:  at the gathering in our Church last Sunday Bishop Buckley launched our local pilgrimage for the Year of Mercy. We hope many of you with your families will make the Pilgrimage with us in April or May when the weather improves !!!.  All received the Booklet on the Pilgrimage at the talk last Sunday. More news later.

Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament on the Wednesdays of Lent after the 10am Mass until 11am,

Morning & Evening Pray each Friday of Lent after the 10am & 6pm Masses

First Confession The Children of 2nd Class in Bunscoil Chriost Ri will be making their First Confession on Tues. 1st March at 7.30pm  here in the Church.   We pray for the Children, their Parents and Teachers.

year-of-mercy-logoRediscovering Mercy:     To explore Mercy in a personal, local, global and prayerful context this Mondays 29th February and Mondays 7th and 14th March. Coffee at 10:30am, sessions from 10:45am to 12:15pm at the Pastoral Development Office, Ballyphehane, beside Ballyphehane Church.

Spring Dues:  We would appreciate if the Area Collectors would collect the envelopes for their areas after Mass in the Sacristy. Many thanks

Confessions:   Saturdays after the 10.00 am Mass & after 6.00 pm Vigil Mass, or ask one of the priests at any time.

Beginning Experience is a specially designed Support Programme for men and women who have suffered the loss of a spouse by death, separation or divorce to work through the grief process in a safe and confidential environment.   The next weekend is being held in the Ennismore Retreat Centre, from Fri.  8th April to Sun. 10th April. The Matt Talbot Mass and Novena continues this Friday, 4th March. at 7.30p.m. in Togher Church. The Celebrant and preacher will be Fr Charlie Davy, S.J.,All welcome as we pray for those carrying the cross of suffering at this time. There will be a cup of tea afterwards in the Parish Office.

Mike Burgess 001Preparing for Easter: There will be an evening of Prayer & Reflection in the Chapel of  St.Finbarr’s Hospital on Thurs. 10th March at 7.30pm for all who serve and help in our Parish.  Fr. Michael Burges OFM Cap who was with us for our Mini Mission in October will guide us through the evening.

Cork South Parish  Historical Society  Monthly Meeting on  Wed 2nd March at 7:30 p.m.  in  St John’s College  Sawmill Street, Speaker   Ronnie Herlihy   will speak on  Crime and Punishment in Victorian Cork  All Welcome
