CHRISTIAN SERVICE We are called to follow Christ who came not to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. In a healthy Christian community various needs of people are met by the giftedness, by the talents and abilities of others within that community. Christian service is often worked out in a home or family context, as well as in the wider community and in meeting the needs of others our own lives are enriched. St Paul tells us that he made himself the slave of all. In a healthy Christian community needs of people are met by the giftedness, by the talents and abilities of those within the community. In Turner’s Cross we have groups of generous people who combine to provide service to the Christian community or to individuals, including for example family carers, members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, many who help or minister in our church and the many involved in community, social, cultural and sporting activities in a voluntary capacity. It is in prayer that we will find the strength to persevere in our Christian service, and to keep it fresh and generous.
Anointing of the Sick: This month Anointing of the Sick will take place on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, this Wednesday 11th February, “World Day of Prayer for the Sick,” after the 10.00 am & 6.00 pm Masses (note extra Mass). The 10 o’clock Mass on Wednesday will be offered for all our sick and their carers. Refreshments in the Parish Centre courtesy of the Parish Assembly after the 10.00 am Mass. Consider offering a lift to a neighbour who may be housebound.
A Prayer for Healing
Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come
to you. Allow Your healing Hand to heal me.
Touch my soul with Your compassion for others;
touch my heart with Your courage and infinite
Love for all; touch my mind with Your Wisdom,
and may my mouth always proclaim Your praise
and speak well of others. Teach me to reach out
to You in all my needs, and help me to lead
others to You by my example. Most loving Heart
of Jesus, bring me health in body and spirit that
I may serve You with all my strength. Touch
gently this life which you have created, now and
forever. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Amen.
