Fr. Kerry’s Golden Jubilee
Thanks and congratulations to all involved in the Mass of Thanksgiving and subsequent festivities to mark Fr Kerry’s Golden Jubilee last Wednesday. Firstly of course congratulations to Fr Kerry on reaching this wonderful milestone on his priestly journey, and our thanks to him for a really special and beautiful liturgy. We also thank him for the party in Rochestown Park Hotel which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Our thanks and appreciation to Cardinal Cormac who was chief celebrant and who spoke so eloquently about Fr Kerry’s priestly life of service to the people of God, to Bishop John for his attendance and warm words, to our deacon Ben Hodnett and to all the visiting priests. Special thanks are due to the Parish Choir and the Choir of Bunscoil Chriost Ri for the beautiful and memorable music. Thanks to all who helped in our celebration, and to the congregation of parishioners, family and friends who contributed so wonderfully to the liturgy. We are all indebted to those who helped behind the scenes with vesting arrangements, car parking and security, preparation of the church and to our utterly reliable and imperturbable Sacristan. Special thanks to the entertainers and to all who contributed to the wonderful festive atmosphere at the hotel. The Parish Assembly wishes to acknowledge all who contributed to the Presentation made by the Chairperson to Fr Kerry on behalf of the parishioners.
This lively and happy occasion was a tribute to Fr Kerry’s priesthood and to the faith in Turner’s Cross Parish. We pray that the Lord who restores life in today’s gospel reading will continue to protect and nurture the faith life of our parish.
