2nd June 2013 – Feast of Corpus Christ

                                    Golden Jubilee

Cardinal Cormac

Fr. Kerry

All are invited to The Mass of Thanksgiving to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Ordination of Fr. Kerry to be  celebrated here in Christ the King on Wed. 5th June at 7pm  Cardinal Cormac will be the chief concelebrant. (Parking will be available in Church & School grounds – stewards will be on duty to help and direct traffic.)
Fr Kerry will be joined by his family and by priest colleagues and friends with whom he has worked over the years of his ministry.  Since his ordination in the Church of Our Lady Crowned, Mayfield on 8th June, 1963, he has served the Lord in Coventry, Bandon, Peru, Farranree, St Peter & Paul’s, Glanmire, St Patrick’s, Glounthaune (as Parish Priest) and lastly in Turner’s  Cross.

Corpus Christi:  Today’s feast of the Body and Blood of Christ reminds us of that the Eucharist is the “source and summit” of our faith, and for the Eucharist we need priests. Through the ministry of priests we are nourished by the Bread of Life and the liturgical life of the parish is made possible. At a time of falling numbers of priests Fr Kerry gives an important example of fifty years of faithful service to the people of God.  As well as being our Parish Priest, he serves as Archdeacon of the Diocese of Cork & Ross, and Pastoral Area Coordinator for the parishes of Turner’s Cross, the South Parish and St Peter & Paul’s.  This kindly and pastoral priest is a man of enthusiasm and an extremely hard worker, with an ability to relate to parishioners of all ages.  He can go the heart of any matter under discussion. We thank him for his service here and wish him well for the future. “Ad multos annos.”
