Priesthood Sunday
This Sunday is known as Priesthood Sunday the day of prayer for all priests throughout the world.  We as parishioners together with our priests need to continuously pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life especially from our own parish community – if someone has or is showing an interested in priesthood or religious life they need every support and encouragement from us, and Fr Kerry and Fr Billy are always available to give the advice, help, and support that is needed.

Parish Child Safeguarding Representatives
The role of the parish safeguarding representative is to ensure that all information about child protection procedures is available, thus ensuring that each parish is committed to best practice in respect of children and young people.  People who may be interested in becoming parish representative are invited to give their names to Fr. Kerry or Fr. Billy  Parish Mobile 087-2610276  by 8th Oct.  An updating training course will take place shortly for both existing and new representatives.

Life in the Spirit Seminars  continues this Wed. 3rd Oct. at 8pm in Parish Centre all are welcome. 

Altar Servers
If you are in third class or above and not in our Parish Schools and would like to be an altar server in Christ the King Church, you can collect your application form and the Child Protection Policy Document in the Sacristy. Current Altar Servers are invited to renew their commitment for the year ahead.  Children attending Bus Scoil Chriost Ri will receive their application form through the School.  All completed forms are to be returned by next Sun. 7th Oct.

First Holy Communion Enrolment: will take place during the 10am Mass this Sunday. We welcome the parents and the girls and boys of 2nd class in Bunscoil Chríost Rí who are enrolling for the Sacraments of First Confession and First Holy Communion – we pray and support them as they make this important commitment.

The Annual Pilgrimage to Gougane Barra this Sunday 30th Sept. at the ancient monastic site associated with St. Finbarr. The concelebrated Mass is at 2.30 pm.  The homilist is Fr. Gearoid Dullea, Secretary of the Irish Episcopal Conference.

Ministers of the Word: can collect their Rota for the coming weeks in the Sacristy

Fr. Charlie: The Parish Assembly are organising a social evening and presentation for Fr Charlie Kiely. in the School Hall Bun Scoil Chriost Ri on Sat 20th Oct. after the 6pm Vigil Mass. If you would like to contribute to a presentation to Fr. Charlie – boxes will be in place in the Church next weekend 6th/7th Oct.  or contributions can be passed into the priests houses.  We thank you for your support.

Deaths: We remember in our prayers  Michael Greene, Derrynane Rd. who died recently  we extend our sympathy to his family .  May he rest in peace. Our sympathy and prayers to Paul & Katie,  O'Connell Ave. on the death of their baby daughter Cliona Kate O'Brien

Cork South Parish Historical Society Monthly Meeting  on Wed. 3rd Oct. at 7:30 p.m. in St John’s College Sawmill Street.    Guest Speakers Dan Breen & Tom Spalding will speak on  Aspects of the Great Cork Exhibition, 1902.    All Welcome  Non-members €2

Annual General Meeting:  The Dyslexia Association of Ireland – Cork Branch is holding its A.G.M. on Mon. 1st Oct. at 7 pm in Bishopstown Community School.  All welcome

Coffee Morning in aid of Marymount Hospice  The sum of €1,250  was raised from the Coffee Morning in the Parish Centre.  Many thanks to the organisers and to all who came to support the event.

Friends of St. Finbarrs  Cemetery are having an Ecumenical Service on Sat. 6th Oct at 3pm in St. Finbarrs Cemetery. All are welcome
