17th April 2011 – Palm Sunday

Confession after all Masses this weekend.
Pope Benedict in his letter to us last Easter said “I encourage you to discover anew the Sacrament of Reconciliation and to avail yourselves more frequently of the transforming power of its grace.” We have an opportunity to receive this sacrament today.

“Walk With Me”:  An excellent little book to help one pray during the Easter season – “Walk with Me” is available after Mass this weekend (Cost €1.30)

In Preparation for Easter: Fr. Kerry & Fr. Charlie will visit the sick and housebound on Tues. 19th  April.

Divine Mercy:
The Novena to the Divine Mercy begins on Good Friday and continues until Divine Mercy Sunday 1st May.  The novena prayers will be said in the Church each day after the 10am at the Divine Mercy Shrine on Good Friday after the 3pm Ceremonies.  Holy Saturday at 12 noon and  Easter Sunday after the 10.30am Mass.

Trócaire Boxes:
can be returned at the 6pm Mass of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday  or to the Sacristy during the week

Easter Triduum Cards are available  from the office after Masses this weekend and during the week  The triduum of Masses will be celebrated on Easter Sunday, Monday & Tuesday

Shared Mass: This week the Shared Mass will  be celebrated on Holy Thursday at 6pm

The Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. 12noon & 6pm:  We hope that the content will help us reflect on some of the many issues that challenge and concern us at this time. In the midst of our busy lives we pause to pray and reflect on the suffering journey of Christ as we accompany Him on his journey to Calvary.

Marriage Health Check

A workshop for couples who have been married three years or more and would like to learn what extensive research suggests is good for the well-being of marriage. Music for Holy Week
On this Wednesday 20th April at 8pm, there will be a performance of Faure’s Requiem and some other appropriate seasonal music in the Christ the King, Church. Led by two well known local choirs: Cor Cois Abhann and Bel Canto Admission €7 (children free) tickets available from the sacristy and at the door on the night of the performance.

Thurs. 28th April at 11.00a.m. Performance by Jubilant Gospel Girls Choir from Italy as part of the Cork International Choral Festival. Admission is free & all are welcome.


Holy Week in Turner's Cross

No morning Mass in Parish Church


Chrism Mass: 10am  Bishop Buckley concelebrates Mass in the Cathedral  on this Thursday with the Priests of the Diocese,  blesses the Holy Oils to be used in the Parishes. All are welcome to attend this  Mass in the Cathedral.

The 'three days' begin on the evening of Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord's Supper. At this Mass we remember Jesus' gift of himself in his Body and Blood and his command to love one another. This command is exemplified in Jesus' washing of his disciples' feet on this night.

Friday 22nd April GOOD FRIDAY
No Masses today, A day of fast & abstinance


On Good Friday the Church gathers to listen to St John's account of the passion and death of Jesus. In the Prayer of the Faithful the needs of the Church and the world are prayed for and then people are invited to venerate the cross through which Christ 'brought joy to the world'.

Saturday 23rd April Holy Saturday
No Morning Mass today.


On the evening of Saturday the Church gathers again to celebrate the Easter Vigil. Christ's resurrection is proclaimed through scripture and song, and through the baptism of a new member into the Parish Community.
