Choosing our Parish Assembly Members
Next weekend will be an important and special time in the life of our Parish. Each Parishioner is invited to nominate up to three Parishioners aged 18 and over to become a member. Nominators should be over 18. If you would like to offer your time and talents to the Assembly, please nominate yourself. You do not need to ask the person you wish to nominate, the members of the Steering Group organising the nominations will do this. The assembly will have 20-25 members. The parish clergy will automatically be included in the assembly.
What kinds of people made the best Assembly members?
Anyone who cares about our Parish and its future.
Anyone who is willing to listen to the views and needs of others.
Anyone who has ideas as to how we might create a vibrant, welcoming community in our Parish.
Anyone who is willing to commit his or her time, talents and energy to the formation process and up to 3 years of membership.
Anyone who is willing to work closely and creatively with others.
The Nomination Process
The successful nominees will be invited to join and become a member of our first Parish Assembly. What the Assembly is all about is explained on the Nomination Form.
Nomination forms will be delivered to each home during the week and will also be available in the Church. The completed form should be placed in the nomination boxes in the Church before or after Mass on Sat 24th/ Sunday 25th November. or postal nominations may be posted to the The Presbytery, Turners Cross Cork to arrive no later than the weekend of 24/25th November.
World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims
This Sunday 18th Nov. is World Remembrance Day for road traffic victims. Countless lives have been lost on roads because of an excess of speed and carelessness. Words can't describe the heartache and pain for so many families who won't have a loved one this Christmas because they died in a car crash.
As we pray and remember all those who have died on our roads, it is good to remember that speed is best left in the hands of world rally drivers. The message for all of us this weekend and indeed every day is to travel safely.
