Remembering The Holy Ones
During the coming week, we celebrate the feasts of All Saints and All Souls.
We remember the saints who have been canonised by the church and those whose names are not widely known. Saints are not perfect people; they have their faults and weaknesses, their struggles and difficulties. Even the canonised ones have been known to be difficult to live with!! Yet the saints are people of integrity who had a central focus at the core of their lives: the love of God.
So as we celebrate the feast it is a time to remember all those whose lives were focused on God and on sharing God’s love, those whose goodness has inspired us and drawn us to God. We are reminded of Jesus’ words:
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to God…”
November is traditionally a time for lighting candles and remembering our loved ones who have died. We give thanks for them and recall how each one brought a touch of God’s light into the world. We remember their loving deeds and rejoice in their faithfulness. As we thank God for their witness and inspiration, let us renew our desire to live lives that reflect God’s love.

Remembrance Weekend 3rd & 4th November
At all our Masses next weekend we as a Community will have an opportunity to come together to remember all our loves ones, especially those who have died since November last year and to support one another in our loss.
