March 6th 2005 – 4th Sunday of Lent

The Man born Blind
As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been born blind.' – John 9:1
Don't we take the gift of our sight so much for granted. Blindness takes many forms. One can be physically blind. Some people are colour blind and find it hard to distinguish between colours. Some are not simply observant and could be sitting opposite someone without noticing what they are wearing. There is also spiritual blindness. This means not being able to recognise God in our lives. For us believers being able to see has nothing to do with how well our eyes work or how observant we are. It has everything to do with recognising Jesus as the light of our world but especially of our lives. The invitation today is to gently invite Jesus into our lives and into those darker corners of our lives. God's light knows no bounds and always penetrates the deepest of darkness.

TSUNAMI APPEAL CONCERT
in Turners Cross this Tuesday 8th March 8 pm (sharp).
(No parking in Church grounds except for invalids. Parking available in grounds of Girls & Boys Primary Schools).
Over the past years we have had a number of Concerts in aid of our Church Restoration Fund, but next Tuesday’s Concert is special – a cause that is close to all our hearts ‘The Tsunami Disaster Appeal’. Long after the TV and news teams have returned home the nations and communities most affected have to rebuild their lives, physically and emotionally. We know from our own experience of bereavement that the hardest time is when the funeral is over and friends and relatives have gone back to take up their daily lives. That is why each of us needs to reflect on what we can do to sustain those affected by this terrible tragedy. Yours presence on Tuesday next will demonstrate your concern. All the artists are giving of their talents free – all the way from New York ‘The Women’s Chorale’ from the Ithaca College, ‘Voices of Cork 2005’, ‘The Eudoxa Quartet’ and special guest appearance of our own Cara O’Sullivan.
As a result of the Concert we hope to rebuild the lives of a number of seafaring families in Sri Lanka. We will keep you informed when the boats are presented to the fishermen.
