Year of the Rosary
This month, traditionally the month dedicated to Mary, falls during a Year of the Rosary.
At a time when there is such a quest for prayer and a sense of spiritual journey, the Rosary is proposed as a way to contemplate Christ through the eyes of Mary.
Mysteries of Light: the five mysteries
1. Meditating on the Baptism of Jesus, during which the Father’s voice from heaven said, This is my Son, reminds us to put ourselves before Jesus and choose him again in our lives.
2. The Wedding Feast of Cana focuses us on Marys words, Do whatever he tells you. The mystery calls us to respond to love by putting the Word of God into practice.
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom and the Invitation to Conversion prompts us to love the core message of the Kingdom.
4. The Transfiguration contains the words of Peter, Let us make three tents as he tried to capture that overwhelming experience of God. It suggests to us to be united with God and with one another.
4. The mystery of the Eucharist invites us to nourish ourselves on Jesus in the Eucharist who makes us one.
I know one family who have written out the mysteries on cards and simply choose one at random after their evening meal. They chat about how they might live out that mystery of the Rosary and then recite a decade. And young people in at least one of the new ecclesial movements have made of it a planetary prayer for peace.

Queen of the May
Bring flowers of the rarest, bring blossoms the fairest,
From garden and woodland and hillside and dale;
Our full hearts are swelling, our glad voices telling
The praise of the loveliest flower of the vale.
O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today
Queen of the angels and Queen of the May.
O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today
Queen of the angels and Queen of the May.
Their lady they name thee, their mistress proclaim thee.
O grant that thy children on earth be as true,
As long as the bowers are radiant with flowers,
As long as the azure shall keep its bright hue. (O Mary ..
