Parish Pilgrimage to the Holy Land is cancelled
Due to the situation in the Middle East, especially in the North of Israel where we would be staying in Tiberias for the last days of our Pilgrimage. We have been advised by our travel agent and others that it is best to cancel our Parish Pilgrimage for this September.
This is very disappointing but hopefully in the future when the situation improves we will organise another Pilgrimage.
You can collect your deposit from the Parish Office in Turners Cross during the week of 31st July – 4th August. 10 am – 12.30 pm.

Death
We remember in our prayers Paddy Galvin O'Connell Cres. and Mary Quinlan, Friars Road, who died during the week. We extend our sympathy to their families. May they rest in peace.

Day of Prayer for Peace
Faced with the worsening situation in the Middle East, Pope Benedict has proclaimed this Sunday July 23rd as a special day of prayer and penance to implore from God the precious gift of peace. “In particular, the Supreme Pontiff hopes that prayers will be raised to the Lord for an immediate cease-fire between the sides, for humanitarian corridors to be opened in order to bring help to the suffering peoples, and for reasonable and responsible negotiations to begin to put an end to objective situations of injustice in that region.
“In reality, the Lebanese have the right to see the integrity and sovereignty of their country respected, the Israelis the right to live in peace in their State, and the Palestinians the right to have their own free and sovereign homeland.
“At this sorrowful moment, His Holiness also make an appeal to charitable organisations to help all the people struck by this pitiless conflict.”

Cork’s donation to Missions up by 24%
People in the Diocese of Cork & Ross have been thanked for their generous support to the Missions with the announcement that the Diocese contributed €150,797 for Mission Sunday 2005. This represents an increase of 24% on the previous year.
