Altar view circa 1935
Description : (c) Richard Hurley & Associates. This closeup view of the altar and sanctuary light shows the sanctuary candles resing on a narrow shelf behind the altar. This shelf was about 1 foot shorter on both sides of the altar. The crucifix, is not positioned in its designated placeholder but instead stands just behind the tabernacle. The tabernacle doors are concealed by a shroud. The altar vestments are cleverly designed with the stepped motif but appear out of place and seem to hinder the effect of the decorative mosaic. The sanctuary light hangs just below the canopy, suspended from the ceiling apex on 6 chains, with its pulley system housed in the attic.
