Parish Catechists receive awards from Maryvale Institute
On Saturday 27th February 25 students from the Diocese of Cork and Ross and 2 from the Diocese of Cloyne received the award Maryvale Certificate in Catechesis from the Maryvale Institute, Archdiocese of Birmingham, England. These student were sponsored by their parishes to undertake this two year course of study towards taking on the voluntary ministry of Parish Catechist in their parishes. On Saturday they were joined by family, friends and their parish clergy as they received their awards and were then commissioned by the two Bishops during Mass. The course was overseen and supported by the Pastoral Development Office in Cork and Ross. On Saturday they were joined by Rev Edward Clare, Director of the Maryvale Institute and Marie Cooke, the Director of Further Education courses at Maryvale. We congratulate Bernadette Hegarty from our Parish who was one of those commissioned. We ask you to remember them in your prayers at this time as they take on this new ministary on our Diocese and in our parishes.
