2nd September 2012 – 22nd Sunday of Ordinary Time (B)

Reflection:  Today we resume the reading of Mark’s Gospel which was interrupted for the past four Sundays. The message of today Gospel is echoed in the first reading, namely, the importance of living God’s commandments. In the Gospel Jesus distinguishes between the observance of mere human custom and the keeping of God’s law. There is no doubt as to which is the more important. What is recommended is not just outward conformity but an alignment of the heart

Back to School
Thursday was back to school for many after the summer holidays. For some children it was a very exciting day and their parents as they began school for the first time. For others they have made the transition to secondary school and began a whole new journey there. For nearly everyone it is good to be back to a routine again. Routine allows us to be comfortable with what we have to do and what we like to do. For many schools September feels like the beginning of a new year. There is a great sense of anticipation and looking forward. As we begin our journey through this month of September, we ask God's blessings on all of us. We ask God to help us with our daily routine. We pray also that back to school will go smoothly for everyone especially for those who have begun school for the first time.

Our thanks to the donor of the plaque at the back of the Church to recall those who participated in the International Eucharistic Congress in Croke Park in June
