11th September 2011 – 24th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Anniversary  of  9/11
President Obama with the American people and their families will attend 9-11 Ceremonies on this the 10th Anniversary of the attacks on the Twin Towers and America. Many of us can recall where exactly we were on that day and time.  Ten years have moved fast for many of us but for those who lost loved ones, friends and colleagues, and the shocking experience of that day, life has never been the same. This weekend we will relive the events of ten years ago, on repeated documentaries and news events. At our Masses this weekend we will remember all those who lost loved ones and those who are still hurt by the events of that unforgettable day. May God always hold them in the palm of his hand.

Changes in the Mass

When will we be using the new edition of the Roman Missal? The texts of the new edition of the Roman Missal are being introduced in two phases to avoid too much change happening at once. From the first weekend in October we  will begin to use the new translations of the people’s prayers and responses at Mass, for example, the Confiteor, the Gloria and the Creed. These texts will be in our bulletin and on congregational cards when people come to Mass. From the First Sunday of Advent the new translations of the prayers of the Mass that are led by the priest will come into use, for example, the Collect or opening prayer and the Eucharistic Prayer. The New Edition of the Roman Missal, therefore, will be fully implemented on the First Sunday of Advent.
